Aquaponics is a system that circulates wastewater from fish to cultivate plants, whereby the plants draw nutrients from the fish waste and filter the water for the fish. The bacteria in the system help break down the toxic ammonia in fish waste and turn it into nitrogen, one of the nutrients for healthy plant growth.
